Jason Skilz (Possible Worlds / Spins & Needles)
Veteran DJ from the East Coast of Canada, Jason Skilz began spinning in the mid 90s at events, raves and night clubs in Halifax, New Brunswick and Montreal. Playing many styles of House, Techno and other genres over the years, Jason’s current style is a mix of upbeat funky, deep, jackin’ and disco house, with more experimental Techno sounds under the moniker Transmit.
Currently based between Toronto and Ottawa Jason and partner Melanie have created several art and music initiatives and events since 2005 including Spins and Needles which hosted creative nights from Halifax to Vancouver and pop up workshops and art parties in Berlin, London, New York and San Francisco.
In 2015, Melanie and Jason created the art and music studio / shop Possible Worlds in Ottawa as a hub for artists, DJs and creatives, hosting many exhibits, events and workshops including the recent Object // Project Art Book Fair.
Jason has past House releases on Spins & Needles, Dustpan, Coyote Cuts, Caliber Sounds, O.X.O. label and others and many guest mixes for radio and online shows including: LoFrequency (London UK), House Salad series (Mexico), Soul Room Sessions (Vancouver), Reason 2 Funk (UK), Lost in Bass (Ottawa / CKCU FM) and others.
